A. Spring and summer is a popular time to renovate. It’s definitely the time for us to do exterior work on the roof, chimneys, siding, etc. But with our chinooks or warm fall season, we can complete the interior and exterior work for full renovations. Because we have a full roster of trades and partnered vendors, we can complete projects at any time of the year. Most interior renovations are unaffected by the weather. In fact, lower demand in winter may result in fewer delays depending on the weather.
A. If our clients have the means in their budget to include living expenses for storage and rent for a secondary home or a long-awaited vacation, we recommend this. A full home or kitchen & bath renovation takes a toll on daily family life. We take measures to mitigate the effects of dust, dirt and services like water, etc., but there is always the impact of people and things being in your space. There is stress on children and pets if you have a renovation for longer than two months. Within the planning and design phase, we discuss schedules and possible workarounds for your particular situation.
Because of these regular touchpoints, many of our clients reach out to us to refer trades for regular maintenance of their home. This work is paid for by the client outside of the renovation services we provide.
A. JPF Renovations is licensed by the City of Calgary and Service Alberta Prepaid Contractor. We are bonded and hold a 5 Million Dollar Liability insurance and WCB Alberta Clearance. We are well established in guaranteeing our company’s business process and protections.
Before construction truly begins, we build a schedule around the products ordered and their arrival dates. The design process includes the selection and purchasing of specialty items such as appliances, windows, cabinets. Once we know the longest lead time, we can problem-solve any products that are delayed. Then we schedule our trades for the construction.
That way, we can help you manage your expectations. Providing us with this information (no, you don’t hand us your money, it’s simply a figure at this point) allows us to give you an idea of whether your wants outweigh your budget or if you could have more items within the scope of the project.
The truth is no budget number can be 100% certain without a unique cost analysis, based on personality, availability, and needs of the home itself as it has aged. If you are going to buy a house, you know how much you can afford, so it should be the same process when renovating a home.
